All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings (i.e. average pay) for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice.
The average pay for GPs working in Links Medical Practice in the last financial year was £82,868 before tax and National Insurance.
This is for 5 part-time GPs who worked in the practice for more than 6 months.
BMA GPs committee chair, Dr Chaand Nagpaul, has said the publication of NHS payments to general practice, “clearly shows how good value the general practice service is for the NHS, although it does also underline the sheer scale of work that GP practices are being asked to undertake.”
“These figures demonstrate that GP services are delivering comprehensive care for a whole year at a cost of £136 per person. This funds unlimited access to GP appointments – now more than 6 visits per year on average – as well as home visits and care for housebound vulnerable patients, immunisation programmes, cervical screening, chronic disease management and many other services.”
